All Saints and All Souls

I always think that the beginning of November is a time to reflect. the month begins with the festivals of All Saints and All Souls then moves to Remembrance of all those who have died in war and other conflicts before entering Advent when our thoughts once again turn to the coming of the Christ Child.

At the Church of the Good Shepherd this past Sunday we kept a requiem for All Souls and we invited back to Murrayfield members of families whose loved ones funerals we have conducted over the last five years. It was good to be able to do so and to welcome them to worship as we remembered all those we have loved and lost by name. It is a time of remembrance with both tears and laughter but in doing so we keep alive the memories of our departed ones and we can give thanks to God for the times we spent with them. May they rest in peace and rise in glory.
