the holiday has been good but we are now looking forwarded to a quieter time on retreat as we get an opportunity to re-charge our spiritual batteries and find some quality time with God and each other as well.
On Tuesday we even joined in the 'Queen's baton relay' for the Commonwealth Games as we watched a member from the Cathedral carrying it through Millport (it was great to see an Episcopalian carrying the flame) and we joined in the many celebrations the town hosted that day.
During the week we have been able to join in Tai Chi classes led by one of our members who teaches it in Bristol, sunbathe on the lawn, walk or cycle the island and we have all eaten too much of the Cathedral's wonderful catering.
Once again a group from the Church of the Good Shepherd, Murrayfield has been holidaying on the Isle of Cumbrae, staying at the wonderful three star B&B at the Cathedral of the Isles (if you have never visited or stayed at the Cathedral then have a look at it's website and book yourself in). For the third year running we have been blessed with good weather. this year has not been quite as hot and sunny as last year, when we all returned very tanned but temperatures have been in the mid-twenties and we have not seen too much rain.We are a mixed group with members coming as far away as Bristol and Dollar and Eyemouth. Eight of us have been on the island since Monday for a holiday and are now relaxed and ready to welcome six more for the retreat weekend which begins tonight (Friday).
