Ecumenical Welcome

On Saturday the local Romanian Orthodox Congregation used our church to celebrate their Liturgy of the Eucharist. We were very happy to welcome them and their visiting bishop. The church was transformed by icons and the smell of incense.

I joined the service for a while and lost myself in the singing and the worship. The church was a riot of colour with blue, red and silver vestments and the wonderfully rich colours of the icons (windows to the divine). On Sunday there was the faint smell of incense in the air but the icons were away and we were back to our Lenten purple and starkness.
