farewell to the Rev'd Bill Brown

One of the joys of working at the Good Shepherd is the way we co-operate ecumenically with the other Murrayfield Churches. MCT or Murrayfield Churches Together is an effective body that seeks to reach out to the community in a united way (see the link from this website). It is a sadness then that my colleague Bill Brown is retiring from the Parish Church. We had a wonderful joint servcie last Sunday to say our goodbyes to him and his wife Shirley and to support with our prayers our brothers and sisters in the Parish Church as they seek his successor. One of the most moving acts was Bill handing his MCT stole back to Eleanor, the chair of MCT. The stoles made by our sisters in Ecudare (Kenya) are symbols of our ecumenical togetherness and Bill's stole will be presented to the new minister when she or he takes up the post of Parish Minister as a symbol of the ecumenical co-operation we live in Murrayfield.
