January Blues

It is that time of the new year when one's spirits can begin to flag. The New Year resolutions are getting difficult to maintain, the weather colder and snowy and there does not seem to be much to look forward to in the near future. Yet, as the feast of Christ's Baptism yesterday encourages us to do we have to look to the future with hope and excitement. The days may be long and dark but the light is getting stronger and there are already signs of new growth peeking out of the ground. When things seem blue try to look ahead to the things you are excited by such as a forth coming holiday or do something that will lift you out of ourself - go to the gym or for a swim; put a bit of fun into your life and the dark days will pass by a bit easier. Look to Jesus and the hope he gives the world and let the fact that you are unconditionally loved by God cheer you up.
