Looking towards Christmas

Tomorrow we reach the third Sunday in Advent and light the pink candle on the Advent Ring. The pink candle signifies a 'rest' from the rigours of the season of penitence and preparation when one can indulgence oneself a bit. In the past many gave things up in Advent just like Lent, today Advent is a time for partying so perhaps tomorrow could be seen as a day off from festivities?

This coming week at the Good Shepherd Murrayfield we welcome the charity 'Canine Partners' to the church for their Carol Service on Tuesday at 7pm (entry by suggested donation of £10 with ALL donations going to the charity). This is a super charity that seeks to match people with physical needs with a helping dog, who does just that help. They help with dressing, answering the telephone and shopping to name just a few of the things that Harmony, my friend Sally's dog does. Music is provided by students from St.Mary's Music School and the church's own organist Dr Pat Warren. Come along it will be a wonderful evening of carols, music and worship.
