Looking towards Fair Trade Fortnight

posted 23 Feb 2016, 09:45 by Dean Fostekew
Fair Trade fortnight begins this coming weekend and all of us are encouraged to buy and use as much fairly traded produce as we can. Why? Simply to ensure that those who grow our food stuffs actually get a fair price for their efforts. This year's emphasis is upon 'Breakfast' for as:
Martin Luther King famously said, ‘before you finish eating breakfast in the morning, you’ve depended on more than half the world’. Despite our dependence on farmers and workers for the foods, drinks and products that we love, about 795 million people are undernourished globally. We are often eating the produce that the farmer who grew it cannot afford to eat. It really makes you think and we can all make a difference by changing our shopping habits to ensure that all farmers get a good price for their crops.
