This coming Sunday the fourth in Lent, sees the Church of the Good Shepherd celebrating Mothering Sunday. Although, today, we keep this as a celebration of our mothers or those who have been like a mother to us, originally this Sunday was a day off granted to domestic servants so that they could return home to their families and worship in their mother churches.
At the Good Shepherd we have a tradition, like many other congregations, of giving a posy of flowers to those at worship on Mothering Sunday. Originally, these were given to the mothers or women of the congregation but we give everyone present a posy as a gift from the congregation and in celebration of our membership of the church.
Come and join us this Sunday at 10am.
