Yesterday the congregations of the three churches in Murrayfield joined together for a joint service to celebrate both Pentecost and the beginning of Christian Aid week. The congregations met in the parish church and shared the Eucharist together using the 1982 Scottish Liturgy from the Scottish Episcopal tradition. Everyone was able to receive Holy Communion if they wanted to and communion was shared according to the practices of the Parish Church and Saughtonhall United Reformed Church. As MCT (Murrayfield Churches Together) it is good that we can be united in the Eucharist and not divided by it.

During the service those collecting for Christian Aid were blessed and commissioned and supported by the united congregations in their ministry this coming week. It is never easy knocking on doors to collect the envelopes because you never know what response you might receive but on the whole most people are welcoming and many of the collectors enjoy the experience. May they all be blessed this coming week and may those who will benefit from the generosity of others be blessed as well. For more information on this year's Christian Aid appeal see their website.
