Yesterday at the Good Shepherd, Murrayfield we kept a service of remembrance and commemoration for all those who have died in war or conflict. It is always a poignant service and my own thoughts always drift to the Great Uncle I never knew but whose photograph sits on my desk. Many people have grown up knowing about their family heroes but never meeting them and sadly that still continues today. War is still waged and people still die and relatives are left to mourn the person they knew or the one they didn't but would have liked to have known.
It was hard to remember our war dead without remembering those in Syria and the middle east living in fear and in conflict zones. Next week we will light a light to show our prayers and support for the people of Aleppo. It is a stark reminder to us that we humans need to find ways of living peaceably together.
Please pray for all affected by war.
