Retreat on Cumbrae

This past week end a group of 10 from the Church of the Good Shepherd Edinburgh made their way across Scotland to the Isle of Cumbrae to the Scottish Episcopal Church's retreat centre at Millport. We stayed in the College associated with the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit and a good time was had by all. Fr.Dean led the retreat taking as his text WH Auden's poem 'Night Mail'. He used the poem to talk about the borders we cross throughout our lives. we had much food for thought, time for prayer and silence and time alone and time together. It was very much a weekend of refreshment.

The isle of Cumbrae is a lovely island with wonderful views across the Clyde Firth to the isles of Arran, Bute and Little Cumbrae as well as the mainland. the great thing is that the island is quite flat and you can easily walk around it in a few hours or hire a bike and cycle. The hospitality offered at the Cathedral is amazing; the rooms and beds are so comfortable and the food outstanding, it is well worth a visit see: http://www.island-retreats.org/cumbrae.html and http://www.argyllandtheisles.org.uk/cumbrae.html
