Where I come from in the south of England we would often at this timeof the year speak of a 'St.Luke's Summer'. What we meant was that we were experiencing a sunny and warm spell in the Autumn not unlike the Summer we had just had, round about the Feast of St.Luke on the 18th October. well, we have certainly had a St.luke's Summer this year. The weather in the Borders, where I was attending friends' wedding was glorious, with temperatures in the late teens Celsius. The sunshine on Saturday was a real gift from God and the leaves floating down from the trees seemed to act as God's confetti on the whole event. Days like this really make on count one's blessing.
