Time out to think and more importantly pray

Over this past month I have been enjoying study leave. This has been an opportunity for me to re-charge my batteries, read and write (a lot), to day-dream and envision the future. More importantly it has been an opportunity to spend a lot of time in prayer. My daily prayers have focused on the people of the Church of the Good Shepherd Murrayfield and the local community. It has been good to have quality time and quantity time in which to pray for individuals and the needs of the congregation as a whole.

We all need a bit of time out now and again and with the holiday season rapidly coming upon us I encourage you to spend a bit of your time away in prayer. That might be starting the day with a prayer or saying a prayer each day in a different church (one of my favourites) or even saying your prayers for the people on the coach or train alongside you. Don't try and tell God what to do but just rest in God and see where your prayers take you.
