Trinity Sunday

Trinity Sunday is the only festival we keep based on a doctrine and not an event in the life of Christ or his saints. It's a difficult doctrine to get one's head around; One God, three beings - Father, Son and Holy Spirit or Creator, Redeemer and Sustainer. Each of them are independent beings but they are all God. The simplest way, I find, to try and comprehend the doctrine is to think of the Trinity as a community of Love. God is love and the three beings different aspects of love. If you think further each of us loves different people or things in different ways. The love for a parent is different to that of a partner or a child, the love for something we enjoy is different to the love we give our pets but the love stems from the same source and is one at hear it is just expressed in different ways.
