Twelfth Night

I always feel that Epiphany gets more or less forgotten. Not in the church but in wider society. When I was a child the Christmas decorations firmly remained in place until after the 6th January and in the church I attended the Crib with the three kings stayed up until Candlemas on the 2nd February. At the Good Shepherd Murrayfield, the Kings arrived on Sunday and come this Sunday the crib and decorations will be away and we will be celebrating the Baptism of Christ. Marking the proper length of Christmas, for me is important. The nativity stories did not all happen at the same time and taking a little extra time each year to mark the Birth of our Saviour does no harm. In fact I believe it reminds us of quite what Christmas is all about for Christmas was not and is not just a day event.
