This past weekend has been a wonderful time in the life of the congregation of the Good Shepherd Murrayfield. Our curate Rosie Addis was ordained priest in a full church and with all aspects of her ministry represented and celebrated. The Albany Deaf Choir moved all of us beyond words with their beautiful interpretation of 'There is a Redeemer' and when it came to the ordination moment Rosie was surrounded by presbyters laying on hands to welcome her into the priesthood. And the sun shone too, which enabled us to enjoy a happy reception in the church garden.

On Sunday Rosie presided at the Eucharist for the first time, which was again a very moving experience. The preacher at that service was the Rev'd Donna Cooper the curate at St.John's Princes Street who preached an excellent and thought provoking sermon based on Jesus telling those he healed not to tell any one. She certainly made us all think and I am still pondering on this words of our Lord. Why did he say that? Donna suggested that it was to encourage those who saw and heard and those who were healed to put their faith into action and not reduce it to mere words.
