Praying at Home - Appendix VI

7th March Lent III

Merciful Father, we have no power in ourselves to help ourselves: when we are discouraged by our weakness, give us strength to follow Christ, our pattern and our hope; who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, world without end. Amen.

Exodus 20:1-17; 1Corinthians 1:18-25; John 2:13-22

The Lenten Collect (said every week in Lent as the second collect)

Almighty God, you hate nothing you have made, and forgive the sins of all who are penitent: create in us a clean and contrite heart; that, in lamenting our sinfulness. we may receive from you, the God of all mercy, forgiveness and perfect peace; through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, world without end. Amen.

14th March Lent IV Mothering Sunday

God of compassion, whose Son Jesus Christ, the child of Mary, shared the life of a home in Nazareth, and on the cross drew the whole human family to himself: strengthen us in our daily living that in our joys and sorrows we may know your presence to bind together and to heal; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.  Amen

Exodus 2:1-10; Colossians 3:12-17; Luke 2:33-35
