Praying at Home - Appendix VIII

24th October Bible Sunday Trinity XXI

Blessed Lord, who caused all holy Scriptures to be written for our learning: help us so to hear them, to read, mark, learn and inwardly digest them that, through patience, and the comfort of your holy word, we may embrace and for ever hold fast the hope of everlasting life, which you have given us in our Saviour Jesus Christ, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Isaiah 55:1-11; 2Timothy 3:14-4:5; John 5:36-47

31st October for All Saints & All Souls

Almighty God, whose people are knit together in one holy Church, the mystical Body of your Son: grant us grace to follow your blessed saints in lives of faith and commitment, and to know the inexpressible joys you have prepared for those who love you; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God now and for ever. Amen.

2Esdras 2:42-48; Hebrews 12:18-24; Matthew 5:1-12

Tuesday 2nd November All Souls Day

Collect for our departed loved ones.

Hear us, O merciful God as we remember in love those whom we have placed in your hands. Acknowledge, we pray, the sheep of your own fold, lambs of your own flock, sinners of your own redeeming. Enfold them in the arms of your mercy, in the blessed rest of everlasting peace, and in the glorious company of the saints in light. Amen.

We are a warm and friendly community with the feel of a village church, despite being just a stone's-throw away from Edinburgh city centre. We come with many different ideas about life, but are joined by one thing – the love of God. We enjoy exploring the challenges the Gospel puts before us and are happy to keep asking questions rather than finding definitive answers.

The Good Shepherd belongs to the Scottish Episcopal Church and we are members of the ecumenical Murrayfield Churches Together.

Whether you are visiting the area, are considering joining our congregation or wish to enquire about a wedding or baptism, please get in touch or follow us via our facebook page

We would like everyone to be able to enjoy our services and activities.  See our accessibility page for more information.  Our resources page provides some suggestions for worshipping from home.
